For the second workshop in 5 days and the first one in Germany the Explainables headed out to the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy Heidelberg for a short 'communication and branding for scientists' bootcamp. One group of participants at Heidelberg came up with one of the all time best analogies we had at Explainables workshops: observations of the cosmic microwave background explained with a notebook.
For our first workshop in Switzerland we teamed up with the NCCR PlanetS. About 20 early career scientists from all over Switzerland met at the University in Bern for a one day "Communication, Branding and Proposal writing for Scientists" workshop. For one of our exercises the participants have to quickly improvise marketing pitches for randomly generated "science products". This time one group draw the combination of the words radio and brain and came up with an excellent impromptu sales pitch for their "brain radio".

Explainable Amran Salleh is an independant designer who recently finished a project for the aac Academy for Architectural Culture in collaboration with the Center of Natural History of the University of Hamburg. Amran and his partner Heidi Knaut designed the exhibition concept and managed the project from draft to realization.
